Castle Rock Breaks Through at Pukekohe

Castle Rock recorded an impressive victory yesterday at Pukekohe Park, delivering a winning performance.

Bred by Trelawney Stud and trained by Chad Ormsby, Castle Rock travelled on pace and utilised his long stride to win under a well-judged ride from jockey, Tayla Mitchell.

Ormsby said the result was a sign the horse is beginning to put everything together.

“It was a good win yesterday from him. It’s easy to say the penny is starting to drop with him now — he has a few quirks with him. He does suit working on pace because he is such a big horse with a big action and he certainly displayed that yesterday. There is ability there and we think even more ground and more time will suit him.”

Trelawney Stud’s Cherry Taylor also praised the performance and the handling of the horse.

“Chad has done a great job with him and the same with Tayla Mitchell at all his trials and races now. He is a big horse but has always had beautiful action.”

As Castle Rock continues to mature, we believe more distance and time will help him improve further.
