Fresh off another brave performance, Pride Of Jenni produced a courageous runner-up finish in the Group 1 Doomben Cup over the weekend.
Trelawney’s Cherry Taylor said the mare’s latest effort was another example of her courage and fighting spirit.
“We are so proud of Jenni, she tried her heart out. It was a tough run and she did so well,” Taylor said.
“We’re absolutely stoked to have bred her and to still see her racing so competitively at eight and rising nine is incredibly special.”
“She’s given everyone so much joy over the years and she just keeps turning up and giving her all every single start....Horses like her don’t come around very often. To see her still mixing it with the best at this stage of her career is something we’re enormously proud of.”
Jockey Declan Bates was also full of praise for the mare following her gutsy performance.
“Couldn’t be happier with her. Great job by Ciaron to have her here so fresh after putting in such a huge run two weeks ago but she was on it again today,” Bates said.
“It’s tough here today with the wind conditions. She got a bit tired in the straight but it was a massive run again.”
