Proisir - An inside look

Incredibly, and unintentionally, of the six colts purchased in New Zealand this year, three are either grand-sons or great grand-sons of the incredible Trelawney Stud mare SAYYIDA (Zabeel). This is despite being sold through two different drafts.

This is a mare we probably didn’t appreciate enough until we spoke with studmaster Brent Taylor. SAYYIDA only produced four foals to race, including two daughters LADY SAYYIDA and RUQQAYA. Between the three of them they have been responsible for:

  • 14 foals to race

  • 12 winners (85% winners/runners)

  • 6 stakes horses (43% stakes horses/runners)

  • 5 Group winners in Australia (35% Group winners/runners)

  • 2 Group 1 winning sires (14% Group 1 winners/runners) who have produced Group 1 winning progeny in Ocean Park and Grunt

What an impact. The probabilities say that our colt by PROISIR out of RUQQAYA can continue this incredible legacy.
