2018 Easter wrap-up

Trelawney Stud finished the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale with a 100% clearance rate with each of the six yearlings on offer sold.

The top priced lot for the Cambridge based farm was the Exceed and Excel x Lady Sayyida filly (pictured) who was knocked down to Brendan and Jo Lindsay for $460,000.  As the first foal from a half-sister to Cox Plate winner Ocean Park this filly is not only an exciting racing prospect but one that holds great residual value.

Lot 445, another by Darley’s popular stallion Exceed and Excel, was knocked down to Hong Kong buyer Harvest Bloodstock.  The colt who is out of Zarzuela, making him a half-brother to Group Three winner Serious Satire, made $280,000.

The Savabeel x Donna Cattiva colt, who was consigned on behalf of Waikato Stud, went to astute purchaser Carmel Size for $200,000 while Blundell Bloodstock secured the Tavistock x Rockadubai filly for $150,000.  The other Tavistock filly in Trelawney’s draft, out of Mansera a half to three-time Group One winner Manighar, went to TC Bloodstock for $30,000.

Trainer Danny O’Brien will give the Shamexpress x Stella Livia colt every chance after securing him for $70,000.  This colt is an athletic type and the half to dual Group One placegetter Spieth and three-time winner Travancore.

Trelawney would like to thank all those who purchased from the draft and wish them the best of luck with the horses.  With two Group One winners in the last month, and several others competing at elite level, Trelawney graduates are firing on both sides of the Tasman and those sold at the Easter auction should be able to add to the tally when their time comes.
