Travancore’s (Savabeel x Stella Livia) form line continued on an upward trajectory when the Clare Cunningham-trained gelding flew home to claim the Canterbury League Club Handicap (1550m) on Wednesday.

The five-year-old gelding travelled at the rear of the field before jockey Jason Collett made his move with 600m to go. When the gap opened up on the straight Travancore pushed through and finished strongly to win by just under a length.

It was the fourth career win for the Trelawney Stud graduate, and the first for Cunningham since he was transferred from the stable of Bryce Heys.

Bred by Trelawney Stud, Travancore was purchased out the Cambridge farm’s 2015 New Zealand Bloodstock draft.

He is a half-brother to Group One performer Spieth (Thorn Park) who stands at Aquis Farm, and six-time winner Star of the Seas (Ocean Park).
