Trelawney Stud graduate Heir of Tavistock has started his summer campaign in hot fashion and looks just the type to continue his progression.

Trainers Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra produced him for a bold first-up victory at Echuca on Thursday.

It was a tidy performance from the four-year-old who was bred by Trelawney Stud in partnership with Whakanui Stud, and he went on to win with authority under 58.5kg over 1400m.

The son of Tavistock’s two previous successes had been over a mile so more ground in the future will be ideal.

Heir Of Tavistock was purchased by his trainers for $200,000 at Karaka out of Trelawney Stud's 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock draft and is out of the winning Centaine mare Procure.

Procure has also produced the Gr.2 Reisling Stakes winner Hips Don’t Lie, the dam of the Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes placegetter Lake Geneva. -Cambridge Stud
