Trelawney Stud graduate Sport Genius (Ocean Park x Bhiwani) brought up his fourth career win in Macau on Saturday.

The three-year-old gelding has fashioned an impressive record in the Asian racing jurisdiction claiming victories in four of his six career starts to date.

Trained by Nick Moore, Sport Genius was unplaced in his debut in December last year before winning his next two starts. He then ran third in March when racing wide without cover throughout, and his won at his last two trips to the track.

His latest success came when he sprinted late to just nail Thar right on the wire in the Class 3 event over 1200m.

"He is a really nice horse and looking for a bit further now." Moore said.

"I liked the way that he quickened late when Luis (Corrales, jockey) changed the whip over and he just made it."

Moore, son of successful trainer Gary Moore, is relatively new to the Macau training ranks having been granted a license in October 2019. He also took out the feature race of the meeting, the Macau Guineas, with Hostwin Saturn.

It was a great weekend overall for Moore who started five runners over the two days racing and picked up three winners and two third placed efforts.

Bred by Trelawney Stud's Taylor family, Sport Genius was passed in at the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale before being purchased by the Macau Jockey Club when consigned by Diamond Lodge later that year at the Ready To Run Sale.

The son of Ocean Park has now won over M$388,000 in stakes. -Trelawney Stud
