Trelawney Stud will offer regally-bred filly Acquisition at the upcoming Magic Millions Broodmare Sale.
The three-year-old daughter of Fastnet Rock will go through the ring as Lot 711 when consigned by Segenhoe Stud in the Race Mares and Fillies section.
Raced by Trelawney Stud’s Brent and Cherry Taylor and Tim & Karen Bodie out of the stable of Stephen Marsh, Acquisition was placed in her two trial starts before finishing unplaced in her only race day start to date.
“She is a lovely big, strong type that trialled really well,” Marsh said. “She showed plenty of talent but unfortunately she didn’t reach that potential on raceday due to a lingering virus.”
Acquisition is out of four-time winner Procurement, who was runner up in the Gr.3 Cuddle Stakes and third in the Gr.3 Arawa Stakes. Procurement is a sister to the Group Two placed Acquired, dam of Gr.2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint Stakes and Gr.3 Hall Mark Stakes winner Splintex and Listed winner Invictus Salute.
Procurement is also a half-sister to Group Two winner Hips Don’t Lie who is the dam of three stakes winners by Fastnet Rock, Ennis Hill, Lake Geneva and Acrobat.
Fastnet Rock is a sought-after broodmare sire and is currently ranked fifth on the Australian Broodmare Sire premiership. He is the damsire of 28 Group winners including Group One winners Tivaci, Santa Ana Lane and Gytrash.
“Acquisition is a great opportunity to access a fantastic family that has been wonderful producer of high-quality racehorses,” Trelawney Stud’s Brent Taylor said. “Horses from this family are highly sought-after through the sales ring and this filly still has race track opportunities.”
Acquisition will fly over to Australia this week and be available for inspection from Saturday with Segenhoe Stud. She goes under the hammer on the afternoon of Tuesday May 25.
